  John Irvine of light hair and a florid complexion
who stood 5" 10½" tall with blue eyes and was a coal miner,
of Sangamon County, Illinois.

Served during the Civil War with the Union Army.
Enlisted as a Private on August 20, 1862 at Camp Butler, Illinois.
Mustered in to Co. B, 130th Illinois Infantry Regiment
on October 25, 1862 at Camp Butler, Illinois.
Transferred to Co. D, 77th Illinois Infantry Regiment
and then was transferred back to Co. B, 130th Illinois Infantry Regiment

John Irvine married Louisa J. McPherron
on March 20, 1886 in Christian County, Illinois.

On the 1900 Census for Gillespie, Macoupin County, Illinois,
and on the 1910 Census for Cahokia ( ? township ) Macoupin County, Illinois
he is listed as an engineer in a coal mine
