He was the son of Jacob SAMPSON, who was born around 1752 in England and died around 1822 in Maysville, Mason Co., KY
and Martha FREELAND, daughter of Francis FREELAND and Mary KINGSBURY.
Mary was born abt. 1764 in Baltimore, Baltimore Co., MD.
Francis' known siblings were: He married Matilda BAXTER 14 Aug 1802 in Baltimore, Baltimore Co., MD.
She was born 21 Sep 1783 in MD, and died 21 Dec 1863 in Menard Co., IL.
To this union was born the following children :Francis and Matilda Sampson both rest in Old Concord Cemetery,
which is located in a field north of Petersburg, Menard Co., IL.

Bessie Rosalie OVERALL,, was born 17 August 1883 in Wayne Co., IL.
and died 9 Nov 1959 in Lincoln, Logan Co., IL. |
She was the daughter of Posey OVERALL and Isabell SIMMS; granddaughter of William & Mary SIMMS; and John & Sarah OVERALL.
Her siblings were :
On 19 Feb 1899 in Wayne Co., IL she married Charles Thomas SAMPSON,
and grandson to Francis Freeland SAMPSON & Matilda BAXTER; and William IDDINGS & Mary Jane MITCHELL.
He was born 20 July 1873 in Wayne Co., IL., and died 8 Nov 1931 in Lincoln, Logan Co., IL.; of Chronic Myocarditis, which is the hardening of muscular walls of the heart.
His siblings were : To this union was born the following children : Joseph A. KINGSLEY originally purchased Bessie and Charles gravesites in the Old Union Cemetery, Lincoln, IL, for himself and his wife Mittie.
Joseph moved his family back to Laconia, IN, where they remained.
Joseph gave the gravesites to his son Walter KINGSLEY who married Charles's daughter, Hazel.
Charles was originally buried in Sec B, Range 14, Grave 10.
He was moved on July 1, 1972 to Sec D, Block 39, Lot 3 next to Bessie, his wife.
1900 IL Census, Grover Twp, Fairfield City, Wayne Co., IL:
Charles is shown living with his mother, Josephine SAMPSON, Feb 1840, 60, widowed.
Also on the 1920 IL Census, West Lincoln Twp, Logan County, IL,
the KINGSLEY family lived in the neighborhood.
KINGSLEY was misspelled "Kingles" on this census.
Hazel and Pearl SAMPSON married Walter and Frank KINGSLEY.
