Ron's Statement and InformationThe picture is the stone of John W. DennisIn 1997 when I went to Vicksburg, I looked at his record in the Park Visitors Center. I disputed their information that they had on their records. Thank goodness I had enough documentation with me to prove to them that he was from IL not MO. In a note from them later they stated that they were grateful for the information, and in the future, they would be replacing many erroneous stones.
John W. DennisBorn 22 October 1831Died 4 May 1864 in the military hospital at Vicksburg, Mississippi. He was a Private in Company K of the 5th Regiment of Illinois Calvary. He is buried in Section L Grave 6088. |
